Erica Lai Moderates Panel on the Government’s Role in Combating AAPI Hate with Former Leading Prosecutors

Erica Lai moderated a discussion about the role the federal and state governments can and should play in combating the steep rise in hate crimes and acts of discrimination targeting the AAPI community during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The panel included Roy Austin (former Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division), Robert K. Hur (former U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland), and Jessie K. Liu (former U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia). The event was hosted by the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of the Greater Washington, D.C. Area (APABA-DC), and co-sponsored by 16 bar associations and legal organizations.
